Background

Missions has always been a major focus of Frontline Ministries International since Pastor Bill and Pastor Mary Pat Gokee began leading the home Bible study for youth in 1995. They soon began taking faithful young people on short-term mission trips, starting with Jamaica in 1996, which was followed by Guatemala in 1997 and India in 1998. We were then introduced through a divine connection to Pastor Samuel Quarcoopome, the Senior Pastor of Life Christian Centre, a church based in Accra, Ghana, with many branches in other cities and villages. We have been blessed to partner with Pastor Samuel, his wife Vera, and his staff as we have ministered in Ghana since 1999 through evangelism and discipleship. In 2003, we felt the Lord leading us to Mozambique & S. Africa and Iris Ministries, and since then we have been able to serve there many times, spreading God’s Word and pouring His love on the poor and the lost. FMI also began ministering in mainland China & Japan in 2004 and has continued each year since then.

Teams from FMI have had the opportunity to travel to 11 different countries since its beginning in 1995. The following list demonstrates only a small measure of what the Lord has accomplished through FMI throughout the world:

  • Ghana (Summer 2009) – We had an amazing time ministering primarily in the northwestern region of Ghana, holding FMI’s first Kingdom Bible School for Pastors and church leaders, ministering throughout Sawla and the surrounding area through evangelistic outreaches, and hosted a large two-night crusade in the middle of Sawla.  Thousands received a direct touch from God’s saving & healing love through this four-week trip.
  • India (March 2009) – We had an incredible amount of new ministry opportunities and contacts open up for this trip. One of these is Rev. Jaipaul Papabathinini, a national leader with many ministry connections in India. These include a children’s home, a school of evangelism, a sewing micro-enterprise venture for needy women, working with women at risk, a medical clinic, and much more. In addition to serving in these areas, we were also involved in evening outreaches to local villages. In addition, Pastor Bill and Pastor Mary Pat Gokee led a pastor’s conference there in the city of Chillakallu.
Our team was also able to reach out to a leper colony, remote villages, and hungry pastors in the area of Rajamundry. In addition, we worked with a group of 400 children who have been rescued from the sex industry in Southeastern Asia.
  • China & Hong Kong (Summer 2008) – FMI was privileged during this summer to be able to spend time both in Hong Kong, and mainland China.  Our team split into two groups, with one group staying in Hong Kong to reach out in dynamic prophetic street evangelism and youth discipleship, and another traveling into mainland to lead revival conferences and minister to believers.  Pastor Bill and Pastor Mary Pat had the privilege of ministering to leaders from over 30 nations during these meetings, and the team was greatly encouraged by the power and Presence of God that was made manifest during these times.   It was exciting to see both salvation come to Hong Kong, and further revival in mainland China.
  • Mozambique & Swaziland (Summer 2008) - During the summer of 2008, a team from FMI was able to partner with Iris Ministries to continue their work in Mozambique and Swaziland.  While working alongside Pastor Jose Novela, we were able to spread the Gospel throughout these nations, reaching remote villages in both countries.   We were able to hold many crusades during our time there, and saw many come to salvation.  Strengthening existing churches was also a primary focusing, and we saw the Lord touch many through powerful healings and intimate encounters with the God who loves them more than anyone else.   We believe God is continuing to light the fire of revival in both of these nations, and we look forward to what He will continue to do in the years ahead!
  • Brazil (Summer 2007) – In September, 2007, a team went to Brazil and continued the work Iris Ministries has begun in Heliopolis, the largest favella of Sao Paulo. Pastor Dirceu Ribeiro, director of Iris Ministries- Brazil and a close friend, has been working in Heliopolis since 2005. We have been partnering with him in this work since that time. This year we were able to deepen a lot of relationships and minister to hurting hearts through times of small group discipleship and house to house outreaches. We were particularly able to reach the children through special night services. One of the highlights was teaching them a dance to a favorite Portuguese worship song. Watching the children dance before the Lord brought tears to the adults in the community. We also participated in a three day conference for local Christian businessmen, alongside Pastor Dirceu and traveling evangelist Mel Tari. God is doing amazing things among His people in Brazil and we are excited to be a part of it.
  • Mozambique (Summer 2007) – In July, 2007, The FMI mission team headed to Mozambique and worked alongside Pastor Jose’ Novela, one of the leaders of Iris Ministries and a dear brother in the Lord. While in Mozambique, we stayed in Zimpeto, Maputo at an Iris Ministries children center for several days.  We spent lots of time hanging out with the kids and sharing the love of Jesus with them. Following that, we traveled halfway up the country by bus to another Iris Ministries children center in the city of Dondo, Mozambique. We stayed there for another 5 days and had a chance to teach and train upcoming pastors in the center. After we left Dondo, we camped at several remote villages, typically in two night increments, and held crusades every evening. We saw many salvations, deliverances, and healings including a boy who was healed of deafness. In one of the last villages we visited, we fed over 230 hungry children. It was such an honor and privilege to co-labor with Him to see His kingdom and His great love shower a land full of hurting and broken people.
  • Ghana, Togo (Summer 2007) – In June, 2007, an FMI mission team returned to Ghana, West Africa and ministered alongside Pastor Samuel Quarcoopome, his wife Vera, and the leadership of Life Christian Centre. We visited the various branches of Life Christian Centre throughout Southern Ghana to preach, teach, encourage, and minister healing and deliverance. A small group also ministered in the Northern Region alongside Pastor Abraham, a fire-starter and networker who is involved in promoting unity and common vision among the churches in the region. While there, we saw an increase in miracles particularly blind eyes receiving sight. This was our third year of partnership with Pastor Abraham. In addition, we also traveled into Togo, a first for a Frontline mission team. Pastor Samuel had established a Life Christian Centre branch in Togo and we had a chance to support this church through discipleship and evangelistic outreaches.
  • China, Japan (Summer 2006) – A team of 8 people from FMI went to China once again for just over three weeks. We traveled by train to Kuming, a city of about four million people in western China. We did a lot of prayer walking around the city and surrounding villages declaring the promises of God over the land. In addition, we had an opportunity to teach English to a group of children who are a part of the poorest of poor. We are trusting that they were impacted by the love of Christ. From China, we went to Kawasaki City, just outside of Tokyo. We loved reconnecting with the people of Japan.
  • Brazil (Summer 2006) – FMI had an amazing summer in Brazil as we again were privileged to work alongside Pastor Dirceu of Iris Ministries.  We were able to work with him to plant the first Iris church in Heliopolis, one of the largest favellas (slums) in South America.  We enjoyed painting the church and helping on the practical side, while our team was also able to minister to those living in the favella and hold evangelistic street outreaches.  The name of the church, Casa de Jesus (House of Jesus) speaks powerfully of what took place – God had made His home among these precious people, and was pouring out His love on their hearts.
  • South Africa, Mozambique (Summer 2006) – FMI was able to minister with Iris Ministries in South Africa and Mozambique this summer, traveling to remote villages to preach the Gospel and encourage existing churches.   We had an awesome time setting up camp in different villages to hold church meetings and discipleship teaching thoughout the day, while holding evangelistic crusades at night.
  • China, Japan (Summer 2005) - Based on our leadership trip to China in 2004, God directed FMI to take a team of 9 to China to work with Revival Chinese Ministries International in transporting Bibles to the unreached in mainland China, sharing Christ with the lost, and encouraging small groups of Christians in outlying areas. In addition, we established a contact in Tokyo, Japan, through an unexpected contact in Brazil, who asked us to be a part of reaching the youth of Japan in a radical way. We know that this is only one step in a powerful process of taking the Gospel to all nations.
  • Canton, Ohio (Summer 2005) – When Jesus said to take the Gospel to all nations, we knew He meant Canton, Ohio, as well. While we have taken many opportunities to minister downtown, this is our first opportunity to spend two solid weeks ministering to the broken and hurting and working with the local churches to see God’s vision for this area accomplished. The Lord has connected us with Pastor Don Bartow of the Total Living Center in Canton to team up and share Christ through vacation Bible schools, concerts and block parties, work projects in the community, door to door evangelism, dance, drama, puppets, praying for the sick, and so on. Praise God for His willingness to do it here like He does it overseas!!
  • Brazil, Mozambique (Summer 2005) – Based on the leadership trip to Brazil in 2004, the Lord directed FMI to take a team to Brazil to work with Iris Ministries in the cities of Sao Paulo and Novo Friburgo, laying ourselves down to serve Iris Ministries there and help them to pull things together for the children’s center that they are building in that country. God has forged a strong relationship with Iris Ministries and we are thankful for their solid affirmation of what He is doing.
  • Ghana, West Africa (Spring 2005) – leadership team of 4 traveled to Ghana to connect with Life Christian Centre (our home away from home) to share Christ and to oversee the beginnings of construction on our property in the south which we purchased in the Summer of 2001, and our property in the north, which was given to us by a Muslim chief. Our desire is to build centers for training believers in these areas to take the Gospel to Ghana, to the unreached in Africa, and to the world. While we were there, we connected with a pastor from the northern territory which is highly unreached and Muslim in population. We are working with him to send a team back to Ghana to host a pastor’s conference for over 250 pastors from all over this area of Ghana. The Lord continues to open amazing doors.
  • Brazil (December 2004) - One of our FMI leaders traveled to Brazil to connect up with Iris Ministries to share Christ, preach, teach, and heal. During this trip, opportunity was arranged for FMI to take a team to Brazil in the summer of 2005.
  • South Africa, Mozambique, Ghana (Summer 2004) - Once again we spent time working with Iris Ministries In South Africa and Mozambique. Part of the team traveled north through the country and ministered to people and churches along the way, sharing Christ with many who were previously unreached. The other part of the team worked in their children’s center for a week and then flew to meet the rest of the team at the childrenxs center in the north. After this, the team flew to Ghana, where, once again, we ministered alongside Pastor Samuel of Life Christian Centre, sharing Christ, and planting churches.
  • India (March 2004) - FMI sent a leadership team of 5 to Southern India to work with various indigenous ministries, teaching in their Bible Schools, sharing Christ with the lost, and ministering healing.
  • China (February 2004) - The Lord directed FMI to take a leadership team of four to China to work with Revival Chinese Ministries in transporting Bibles and literature to the persecuted church in China. We had the opportunity to worship in mainland China with a precious 90 year old saint in the underground church who risks her life every day to distribute the Gospel to her people.
  • Mozambique, Ghana (Summer 2003) - We spent 4 weeks working with Rolland and Heidi Baker of Iris Ministries in Mozambique. We ministered at their orphanage of over 400 children, through work projects, playing and praying with the kids, and teaching and preaching. We also had the opportunity to go on a three day trip into the bush to encourage the churches and to hold crusades. After this, we went to Ghana for the next 4 ½ weeks, once again partnering with Life Christian Centre, planting churches, holding crusades, ministering to the sick, witnessing to Muslims and much more. We worked with a dozen different churches to hold three nights of crusades in a Muslim area of Ghana.
  • Ghana, West Africa (Summer 2002) - We took a team of 26 young people to Ghana for five weeks to work once again with Pastor Samuel of Life Christian Centre in sharing Christ with the lost, planting churches, encouraging the churches, and ministering healing. During this time, we saw over 2500 people come to the Lord. We hosted three nights of crusades in Ghana and saw many come to Christ.
  • Ghana, West Africa (Summer 2001) - We took a team of over 20 young people to Ghana for six weeks to work once again with Pastor Samuel of Life Christian Centre sharing Christ with the lost, planting churches, encouraging the churches, and ministering healing. During this time, we saw over 2000 people come to the Lord. We hosted our first small crusade and showed the Jesus Film in Ghana.
  • Ghana, West Africa (Summer 2000) - We took a team of about 19 young people to Ghana for five weeks to work once again with Pastor Samuel of Life Christian Centre sharing Christ with the lost, planting churches, encouraging the churches, and ministering healing. During this time, we saw over 1500 people come to the Lord.
  • Ghana, West Africa (Summer 1999) - Pastors Bill and Mary Pat led a team of about 15 young people to Ghana for four weeks to work with Pastor Samuel Quarcoopome of Life Christian Centre, sharing Christ with the lost, planting churches, encouraging the churches, and ministering healing. At this time God forged a long term relationship with Pastor Samuel that has led to much fruitful ministry over the years. During this time, we saw over 1200 people come to the Lord.
  • India (Summer 1998) - Pastors Bill and Mary Pat led a team over 20 young people to India for four weeks to work with Real Impact Missions, where we saw about 90 people give their lives to the Lord. We spent our time sharing Christ and helping in the areas of work projects and medical outreach in the relatively closed areas of Calcutta and Varanasi.
  • Guatemala (Summer 1997) - Pastors Bill and Mary Pat led a team of 22 young people to Guatemala for two weeks to work with Teen Mania Ministries, where we saw over 860 people give their lives to the Lord.
  • Jamaica (Summer 1996) - Pastors Bill and Mary Pat led a team of 25 young people to Jamaica for two weeks to work with Teen Mania Ministries, where we saw over 250 people give their lives to the Lord.
