Monday night, our team piled into the bus and headed for the Indian Ocean – near the site of our first “campaign.â€Â (Here in India, large gatherings with a ministry program are called “campaigns†instead of “crusades.â€) There were over 450 people gathered at the campaign site in the town of Peroumallapuram when we arrived. Frontline paid for everyone to receive food, and everyone heartily enjoyed their plate of lentils and rice.
The night started off with Pastor Deva’s praise band leading worship, and then three young boys from a local church performed an adorable and upbeat dance. Theresa and Mark took the stage and also danced to the delight of the crowd. This led into a time of worship led by Pastor Bill and Christy – as they sang “Holy†together, the presence of God was thick in the air. Pastor Bill took the microphone and preached a powerful Gospel message, calling forth the lost and the hurting to find true life in Jesus. An estimated 315 people in the crowd raised their hands to pray for salvation! Hallelujah!
Pastor Mary Pat preached an anointed message on healing, calling forward all those suffering from illness. A mini crowd gathered around the stage, and as she prayed over them, some began to weep while others were swaying under the presence of God. After prayer, she invited anyone to come to the stage to testify about a change in their bodies. One brave woman came forward, crying as she testified how God had completely healed severe pain in her legs. Another woman came forward overjoyed to testify about what God had done. Her husband brought her to the campaign, as she had been suffering from severe spinal pain and an infection on her back which made her unable to stand. The doctors had been unable to diagnose her. But after prayer, she was completely healed. Another woman testified that she had been healed of back pain that had tormented her for the past three years.
Later, Pastor Prabaka informed us that he believed even more people would have come to the stage to testify of their healing, but for the fact that they were afraid of being seen by anti-Christian activists. Thanks be to God for his saving and healing power!
