Proclaiming the Gospel From the Rooftop!!

Driving towards our evening church service, we pass by temples and areas of entertainment with clanging gongs and jangling bells. As we get out the car and head down the narrow alleyways we can suddenly hear the sounds of worship coming through the night sky. Looking up, we see people standing on a nearby rooftop worshipping the Lord.

It was quite an experience to stand on that roof surrounded by the believers in this new church plant as well as the children from Frontline’s Chidren’s Home. The kids were leading worship and it was great to hear. Pastor Mary Pat and Lawrence greeted the people briefly as they were headed to another church meeting with our contacts in a different area. In Matthew 5, it says that a light should not be hidden, but placed high that all may see and that was the reality of this church.

Pastor Bill encouraged this group of believers with the reality that they were such treasure to their good Father and that they are ambassadors of Christ, called by God to reach their neighbors with the Good News. They are important in the Kingdom and should be encouraged to know that they have the King’s support. Three people stood to receive the Lord tonight. It was awesome…as they were praying out, we believe that there were others in the houses all around that responded to the Gospel going out through the powerful speakers on the roof.

People came forward for prayer as Pastor Bill worshipped the Lord on the guitar. Many were touched by the Lord. They were such precious people with various requests that they were trusting the Lord to touch. Carly and Troy prayed and prophecied over each of the ones who came up for prayer. As we made our way out of the house towards the car, we stopped in several homes were those who were unable to come up to the rooftop waited for prayer and encouragement. Every week one of the old ladies makes her way out to the stoop and listens to the worship and Word. It was such a neat experience and a creative way of proclaiming the Gospel in the city of Rajahmundry. Our God is so good.
